Stand up for Straddie!
Mining, grazing and logging in national parks? Australia's special places are under threat. North Stradbroke Island is at risk from expanded sand mining. The previous Queensland government extended the Enterprise sand mine on Straddie until 2019 but agreed to protect 80% of the island in a national park once mining had finished. Now the current state government wants to expand mining even further. But this can’t happen without approval under national environment laws.
Ask federal candidates with the environment portfolio from all parties to protect our national environment laws. Sign our petition to Mark Butler (ALP), Greg Hunt (Coalition) and Larissa Waters (Greens).
